About

Our History and Mission

Established in 1995, the East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund (ELEEF) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) group that works to improve the quality of the town’s public education. Each year, we provide grant funding to programs outside of the school budget to enrich students’ learning experiences and enhance their educational environment. All of our funding comes directly from fundraising events, sponsors and private donors. Teachers with a need for new resources or an idea for an educational program can apply to ELEEF for funding to get their program off the ground.

Schools Benefited

All of the schools in the East Longmeadow public school system have benefited from ELEEF funding:

  • Meadow Brook Elementary School
  • Mountain View Elementary School
  • Mapleshade Elementary School
  • Birchland Park Middle School
  • East Longmeadow High School

What is the Purpose of an Endowment Fund?

Endowment funds collect donations—also known as “endowments”—and then invest the money to use the gains for a stated purpose. As more donations are added to the pool, the amount of money made on investments can grow. Donations given to the endowment fund are tax-deductible for those who give.

At ELEEF, these gains are distributed to the East Longmeadow public school system through a grant program in order to enhance the educational experience of students.
